Welcome to Desperado Mountain Writings

Like any good Mountain Man the desire to tell stories, or tall tales, is inherent within my soul.
On this page are a couple small writings and below them are links to lengthier ones.

I hope you enjoy your time here.

IN THE SUN

I had slept in a rock crevice for the night... upon a mountain.

The cold night air not even favorable to crickets.

I awoke with the sun rising.  I climbed upon a rock overlooking a canyon and watched the sun rise...

Alone on my rock... I felt the sun begin to warm me as I gazed at the ever increasingly lit picture of my world.

Suddenly there was a scramble of small claws slightly masked by the yawning of dawn.

I looked over and saw a lizard gazing at the same sun as I...  Warming itself on the same rock.

I spoke in Lakota, "Hau agleska nitiblo",  meaning hello my older brother lizard.

The lizard glanced at me in acknowledgement then turned its gaze back to the sun lit canyon.

So we sat... Agleska and I as the sun rose... warming ourselves on a rock.

WAVES

Ocean waves where she likes to hide
Just wait to drown her in the tide
The moon and stars can't save her
Black and white like words on paper

She walks alone in the night
To wake alone in bright sunlight
Like waves crashing on the beach
Seems broken and out of reach

So pull the ropes put out the sheet
On the wind her honey sweet
In the sun.. in the bright moonshine
Heaven shines from the girl of mine

She knows that she's been married
By the waves she's been carried
Water always sets her free
Washes her clean in fantasy

Just wants to take off her shoes
Crest the wave and drown her blues
Marooned in a see through dress
Wants true love and nothing less

Pull the ropes put out the sheet
On the wind her honey sweet
In the sun... In the bright Moonshine
Heaven shines from that girl of mine
